Hollywood heavyweights Jack Black and Morgan Freeman joined forces with the likes of Queen Noor of Jordan, retired U.S. Ambassador Thomas Pickering and former CIA operative Valerie Plame to cut a video to appeal for support for the Iran deal – with the outlined alternative being death.
The video opens with Black flipping a frisbee and saying, « I love playing frisbee with my sons. » Freeman shortly after chimes in: « I love to see my grandkids smile. » But that could all end if Congress « sabotages » the nuclear pact President Obama and his administration took the lead in forging with Iran, the video participants said. Why? Because « we’d be dead, » intoned one actor. « Super dead, » Freeman said. Black, meanwhile, added: « I won’t be able to play frisbee with my sons because there won’t even be a frisbee. The frisbee will be melted. » Noor shortly after suggested the real worry about dropping the deal with Iran is that doing so would raise tensions around the Middle East – something Pickering jumped on and agreed. « Look kid, it’s true that if Congress sabotages this deal there would be nothing stopping Iran from getting the bomb. That would likely spark an arms race throughout the region, » he said. And Freeman’s thoughts: « Ultimately we could be forced into a war with Iran, another dangerous drawn-out and expensive conflict in the Middle East with many lives lost. » And it’s that war that would lead to Iran’s development of nuclear weapons, Plame said. « Once a war begins, » she said, « the chance of Iran developing a nuclear weapons would only increase. » The conclusion? « The agreement currently on the table is the best way to ensure Iran doesn’t build a f—— bomb, » Freeman said. Critics of the deal Obama created with Iran predict the same outcomes – Iran will build a nuclear bomb and the Middle Eastern nations will engage in an arms race – but for the opposite action, of Congress supporting the plan.
