The death toll has now risen to 7; Lebanon declares a day of mourning to honor martyrs of Armed Ambush.

Lebanon mourns its martyrs, on Friday, after the death toll from the Tayouneh ambush left 7 civilians martyred. 

Snipers opened fire on peaceful protesters, on Thursday, protesting the politicization of the Beirut port blast’s investigation.

Army Forces (LAF) told Al Mayadeen on Thursday that several Lebanese Force (LF) party members had been arrested today, as they are suspected to have participated in the shooting against unarmed protestors.

The source confirmed that 8 people from LF, a right-wing political party, have been arrested so far, noting that some of them admitted to planning today’s shooting.

The Lebanese Hezbollah and Amal Movement accused the Lebanese Forces Party of the armed attack on the protesters.

Seven peaceful protesters were shot and killed and dozens wounded in the Tayouneh area on Thursday, after snipers hid on the roof of buildings in the Tayouneh area in Beirut.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun made an official comment on Thursday’s event in Lebanon, decrying the violence while underlining freedom of expression under the Lebanese constitution and within the Lebanese state.

Prime Minister Najib Mikati also declared Friday the 15th of October as a national day of mourning.
